Spring Make-Up: Lips

Hey hey friends! I've decided that today is going to be more of a review than an idea post, but I hope it gives you some inspiration any ways!

My favourite thing about spring, is how radiant and fresh everyone looks, and when I think radiant I think NUDE!....well...not nude nude, but nude lipsticks! There is something about the perfect nude shade of lipstick that can just make anyone look a little bit more uplifted.

So here are some of my favourites...and some that I tried....but really didn't make the cut.

FIRSTLY, I will get the not so great ones out of the way.

Wet n' Wild Pink Suga is probably my least favourite. I thought it was going to be thin and easy to apply but it was thick and difficult to apply. It was just a bit too dry for me. It was the colour I wanted... I just wish it wasn't the consistency of a crayon!

Next is Revlon's "Just Enough Buff"
I was expecting this one to be the perfect colour, but you never ever know how a lipstick is going to turn out until you put it on. It was smooth to apply, and was fairly easy to remove.  The colour was just not what I thought it was going to be. Tooooo pink!

Next is Revlon's Peach Petal! This one is great! I will wear this likely with everything! It's super cheap, lasts long, and is perfectly peachy! I highly recommend this product for anyone...HOWEVER... its still not the PERFECT nude.

Are you ready for my absolute favourite lipstick in the whole world?

WELL GET READY!

It's Lime Crime's COQUETTE!
This is the smoothest, creamiest, softest lipstick! I love it so so much! I wear it on special occasions, as it is ALWAYS sold out! So head over to Limecrime.net and pick it up! They ship so fast and I swear you will love it like I do!

Hope this helps spark some great ideas and helps you find the perfect nude! -Maz

Make-Up for Spring: Cat Eye's

I'm going to be focusing on Make-Up for Spring, this week. So to start us off, I'm going to talk about one of my ALL YEAR LONG favourites: The Cat Eye.

Today we are going to focus on good cat eye's for Spring, and the do's and do not's!

Firstly, for Spring, people want to look fresh and airy. It's not very likely for you to see harsh and bright eye shadows. A common mistake made by people trying out the Cat Eye for the first time, is they draw very dark, thick and dramatic lines.

cat eye make up for CATWOMAN costume?

This, though they are perfect for the cat walk, evenly drawn, and pretty interesting, this kind of cat eye is something you want to avoid this spring.

You want to go for a softer  palette, so here are some softer versions of the cat eye, that I found (ON PINTEREST)

pretty eye make-up...I love a cat-eye, and I love the gold touch here.

Soft cat eye make-up, maybe for wedding?

If you want to get a little bit more dramatic but still keep it Spring-y, then try using softer blues, or purples, with a dark coloured liner, try a dark brown, or bronze liquid liner!

Now I don't mean go out and do something like this:
blue sombra shadow eyes make up maquillaje ojos suave soft dia day celeste blue azul

I mean a softer approach like this:

Brown Eye Shadow soft touch!

or

Ivory or cream and purple eyeshadow with cat-eye liner

or

Love when shadows match eye colors. Soft and beautiful.

I hope this gives you some ideas and a fresh new outlook on Spring Make-Up.
Don't hesitate to send me pictures of your favourite Cat Eye's or your favourite Spring shadows!

Stay Beautiful,

Thrifting Tip #1

Back in the day (I'm fully aware that I am not actually that old) thrifting was basically a mission.
First you had to find the thrift stores, which were hard to come by, then you had to rummage, dig, search, dig, and try to find buried treasures! DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON FINDING A SIZE!

These days thrifting is thankfully, a growing trend. People want things with a story; conversation pieces.
So more and more awesome thrift shops are popping up, and store owners have started working out the kinks a bit. Now items are organized, clean, and easy to navigate through. Thrifting is not stressful anymore, in fact, its almost a walk in the park. There's just one thing turns people away from thrifting, and that is  FINDING A SIZE!

When people walk into a thrift shop, they get overwhelmed with the chaotic, what I like to call the "One-of-a-kind effect" As shoppers, we are conditioned to seeing uniform shelves and stacks of the same things, all colour coded and organized, and when a conditioned shopper walks into a thrift store....it hits them like a ton of bricks.

I have taken numerous people thrifting, and the first thing they complain about is finding sizes. So here are some tips, or one tip rather for finding the right fit:

DON'T LOOK FOR A SPECIFIC SIZE OR NUMBER!

shock

I know right!? Surprised?

One thing, that you will come to realize is that no matter how long you searched for your size 6 pair jeans, they may not actually be a size 6.

The reason for this is that 9 times out of 10, if you find something worth trying on in a thrift store, cause lets face it...you're not going to like everything....its probably old! And the older the clothing is the more off there sizing will be! Sizing charts are constantly changing to keep up with the human body and its changes, so your best bet is not spending your precious time "size scavenging" but guesstimate the sizes. Hold things up, try things on, and don't ever feel discouraged, there will always be something.

Next week we'll talk about finding the perfect vintage dress, by body type and style of dress! But for now, go pop some tags!

Have a Thrifty day!
